On 64 km the "Uplandsteig" trail will lead you through many different nature landscapes including more than 40 viewpoints, nature monuments und the highest mountains of the "Sauerland" region.
With its 1,500 m of difference in altitude the "Uplandsteig" is a challenging hiking trail. In 2009, hiking friends from all over Germany visited Willingen for the 109th German Hiking Day. Low barrier hiking trails, qualified tour guides and lodging as well as three chosen speed-hiking trails still make Willingen to the secret hiking capital.

Upland's 17 km pilgrim’s path "Lebensspuren" leads you through beautiful walking and hiking trails from Willingen and Schwalefeld to Rattlar and through Usseln back to Willingen. On four stages many stations animate you to reflective thinking. The often-visited pilgrims’ church in Schwalefeld is really worth seeing on one of your tours.
The church is open daily from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm.
