Go Deep Underground to Discover Slate Mine "Christine"

Slate mine "Christine" was shut down in 1971. Since that time, the mine is open for visitors and is part of the GeoPark, a diversified and attractive landscape in the North of Hessen. The mine "Christine" shows how slate was extracted chamber by chamber, a common method of the 20th century. Visiting the mine will surely be an unforgettable adventure for young and old. We recommend wearing a warm jacket to enjoy the professional guided tour for 8 people or more. By the way, the "Christstollen", a very delicious German Christmas specialty, is stored in the mine "Christine". In addition to that, a mine-dinner and an exclusive relaxation treatment at constant 8 °C enjoy great popularity. For professional divers it is possible to explore beautiful minerals, fossils and jewelry with semi-precious stones in the flooded mine which are also purchasable at very favourable prices.
